Sewing through the Coronavirus Crisis
Sewing masks to help with the PPE shortage due to the Coronavirus Crisis is a great way to help in this time of need. We are responding to the call from health care workers to create masks while they procure the N95s they need. These masks are not intended to REPLACE N95 Masks. They can be used over N95s to prolong life or used in non-critical areas of healthcare to free-up PPE resources.
How You Can Get Involved
Determine the mask style you can sew and review the patterns. Each facility may be asking for different types of masks, so please check the listing carefully. Read our sewing tips before you start.
Elastic is in high demand and short supply. Consider donating supplies you have available. Submit a form with the donations you have available and one of our regional hub coordinators will be in touch.
We are looking for volunteers who are willing to be a regional hub coordinator for your city / county / state. This volunteer will help oversee coordinating supplies, pick-up and deliver masks, connecting sewers with supply donations, etc.
MARCH 29, 2020 SPECIAL NOTICE: At this time we are committed to fulfilling requests by HOSPITALS first and foremost due to overwhelming need to protect our front line workers. Our hope is to shift to providing masks to other facilities once the needs of our hospital workers is fulfilled.
You can find endless patterns on the internet, but these patterns have been specifically requested by hospitals and facilities. Please look over the NEEDS and determine which style mask the facility nearest you prefers.
